چکیده

We consider time-dependent systems and their possible states or situations. In order to do this, we define suitable algebraic structures, including time. Situation descriptions are represented with the corresponding formulas and we look at inferences from formulas, where the inference may be partially incorrect. We define the measure of correctness and show how it can be used to compare the plausibility of the described situations.

Detection and Analysis of Human Emotions through Voice and Speech Pattern Processing

The ability to modulate vocal sounds and generate speech is one of the features which set humans apart from other living beings. The human voice can be characterized by several attributes such as pitch, timbre, loudness, and vocal tone. It has often been observed that humans express their emotions by varying different vocal attributes during speech generation. Hence, deduction of human emotions...

A logical expression of reasoning

We introduce a new nonmonotonic logic, the Logic of Plausible Reasoning, LPR, capable of dealing with creative complex reasoning, which is argued to be the kind of reasoning required in many instances of scientific thought, professional practice and common sense decision taking. For managing the simultaneous consideration of multiple scenarios inherent in these activities, two new modalities, w...

Linear-Input Subset Analysis

There are syntactically identifiable situations in which reduction does not occur in chain format linear deduction systems, i.e. situations in which linear-input subdeductions are performed. Three methods of detecting these situations are described in this paper. The first method (Horn subset analysis) focuses on Horn input chains while the second (LISS analysis) and third (LISL analysis) are s...

Measuring Frame Relatedness

In this paper we introduce the notion of “frame relatedness”, i.e. relatedness among prototypical situations as represented in the FrameNet database. We first demonstrate the cognitive plausibility of that notion through an annotation experiment, and then propose different types of computational measures to automatically assess relatedness. Results show that our measures provide good performanc...

Multiagent Knowledge and Belief Change in the Situation Calculus

Belief change is an important research topic in AI. It becomes more perplexing in multi-agent settings, since the action of an agent may be partially observable to other agents. In this paper, we present a general approach to reasoning about actions and belief change in multi-agent settings. Our approach is based on a multiagent extension to the situation calculus, augmented by a plausibility r...
